THE BULL IN THE FIELD
“A man and his son were crossing a field when a vicious bull
appeared before them, half-hidden by some bushes. The terrified boy started to run away, but his father calmly called
him back. ‘See,’ said the father with a gesture, ‘the bull is
chained. You were safe all along.’
As they walked on, the father said, ‘Fear is a terrible emotion,
which you need not suffer from. Learn to see a situation as it
is, not as you are.’
When you are truly transformed. so is your world, and that world
contains no fear. “

Dollar Store
Twice a year, every American shopper should go to a dollar store. There is no
good reason to pay more money for things you can buy cheaper at a dollar store
than Wal-Mart. Buy such things as toiletries, detergents, and paper
products.
Things really are cheaper at dollar stores. They are also easier to find than
in some cavernous Costco store or a Wal-Mart supercenter. There is always a
clerk close at hand who knows where things are. You can get help. Try that at
Wal-Mart.
You save both time and money at dollar stores.
It doesn’t pay to run lots of errands weekly. They eat up gasoline and time.
But if you make a shopping list and head for a dollar store twice a year, you can
save money. Buy in bulk.
If you want to prove this to yourself, just once, make a list of items you buy
regularly at a supermarket, but not food items. Go to your favorite
supermarket. Check prices. If you want, use your cell phone to take
pictures.
Then head for a dollar store. Buy five of every item that is cheaper.
Keep a list of the items that are cheaper. Then, twice a year, get this list and
head for the store.
Note: keep the list on Evernote.

Secrets for Higher Success
“It would be helpful to place ourselves in the mind of an awakened
man to see how he views a sufferer who comes to him. The sufferer
complains he has been betrayed by others, that no one helps him,
that hopes turn to defeats and so on. The teacher clearly under-
stands how the sufferer really suffers from himself, from what
Eastern wisdom calls _maya_, illusion. But he also knows that the
inquirer will reject this, for the end of illusion means the end of
the suffering which he secretly cherishes. When the teacher succeeds
in proving the advantage of peace over pain, the man matures.”
VITAL POINT
A chief trait of a human devil is his unawareness
that he is one. You can pile his evil deeds a mile high in front
of him and he still won’t see them. Beware. He is a man without
a soul. But like all devils he is so incredibly stupid that any
sincere person can see what he is. Just see the insanity he re-
fuses to see. For example, he is compelled to hatefully accuse
others of evil, so that by contrast he appears innocent. See
through him.”

“This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”
WOMAN IN LOVE
A woman complained that every time she fell in love
with a man she ended up betrayed and heartbroken. It seemed impossible
for her to break the painful pattern of meeting, quarreling, parting.
One day she met a wise man who asked her, ‘Are you in love with _him_
or merely with _your own hopeful ideas about him_?’ She soon saw how
her own foolish imagination invited grief, which is what stopped her
grief. As she saw thru herself, she also saw thru the problem.”

A Treasury of Trueness
“Because we have forgotten the invisible and true God, we vainly
try to make contact by creating visible symbols, which are merely
our feeble ideas about God. This explains the human habit of
erecting idols and of worshiping other humans.”

The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power
“Love is a state of psychic understanding. Lack of love is lack
of comprehension. What must we understand? Take fear. The New
Testament states that perfect love casts out fear. Fear arises
in human relations whenever we want something from someone and
worry that we won’t get it. The mystic-man has no fear because
he has no demands upon others; he lives bountifully from his
Kingdom of Heaven within. A love relationship is impossible
when based on demand, subtle or obvious. Such pseudo-love is
merely a bargain: ‘You be nice to me and I’ll be nice to you,
but, if you cease to please me, I’ll go away.’ The mystic life
has none of that. It is an entirely different world.”

Vernon Howard’s Higher World
… from a talk given 3/26/1989
“If you write things down, please list the following four points:
Point one - recurrent restlessness.
Point two - knowledge.
Point three - spirit.
Point four - continual growth.
You have in those four briefly stated steps the entire story of
human deliverance from humanity. You have the outlines to which
you can and should refer constantly to find out just where in
the inner spiritual journey you are, and also, to keep in front
of you reminders of where you should be going. These four steps
are four steps to the higher treasures.”
